The U.K. recently announced a fast-track immigration route for people who have won top awards, including Nobel Prizes, Oscars, and Golden Globes, and others. Britain’s visa application process “global talent” meant that the person needed consent from one of six endorsing bodies. The U.K. Home Office said in an emailed statement that those who hold qualifying prizes will no longer need to apply and can make a single visa application instead.
Award winners from across science, humanities, engineering, the arts, and digital technology can take advantage of the new rules. International stars who have won Bafta, Brit, Mobo, Tony, or Golden Globe awards will also be eligible. Artists with the best international act at the Mobos or the lifetime achievement award at the Grammys are also allowed for fast-track visas.
The Home Secretary Priti Patel said. “UK has so much to offer to the winners of these awards as they have reached the pinnacle of their career.”
